| AIKS welcomes judicial intervention in migrant ration case | | | Early Times Report
New Delhi/Jammu, July 4: The All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) welcomes the proceedings before the Hon’ble High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh in WP(C) PIL No. 5/2026, filed by AIKS challenging the benefits to the Special Category of Kashmiri Migrants. The matter came up for hearing before the Division Bench comprising Hon’ble the Acting Chief Justice and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mohd. Yousuf Wani on 01 July 2026. The Hon’ble Court has issued notice to the respondents, and the learned Senior Additional Advocate General appearing for the Union Territory accepted notice on behalf of the Government. The Government has been granted two weeks’ time to file a short affidavit clarifying whether ration and sugar meant for the Special Category of Kashmiri Migrants have been stopped despite the issuance of Government Order No. 15-JK(FCS & CA) of 2026 dated 05.03.2026. The matter has been listed for further hearing on 21 July 2026. AIKS considers this an important procedural development as the Hon’ble Court has sought a specific explanation from the Government on an issue affecting thousands of displaced Kashmiri Migrant families. The petition has been filed to safeguard the legitimate rights and welfare of the migrant community, which has endured displacement and hardship for over three decades. AIKS remains committed to pursuing all lawful and constitutional remedies to ensure that the entitlements of eligible beneficiaries are protected. Speaking on the development, Mr. Sunil Kaul, General Secretary, All India Kashmiri Samaj, said: “We welcome the Hon’ble High Court’s intervention in seeking the Government’s response on this important humanitarian issue. AIKS has full faith in the judicial process and is confident that the matter will receive fair and objective consideration. We sincerely hope that the concerns of the Kashmiri Migrant community will be addressed in accordance with law and the Government’s own policy decisions.” Mr. Kaul further appealed to members of the community to remain calm and avoid speculation while the matter is under judicial consideration. AIKS also expressed its gratitude to its legal team, led by Senior Advocate Mr. P. N. Goja and Advocate Mr. Abhinav Jamwal, for effectively presenting the matter before the Hon’ble Court. As the case is sub judice, AIKS will refrain from making any comments on the merits of the proceedings beyond what is recorded in the Court’s order. The organization will continue to keep the community informed of significant developments through official channels. |
