Early Times Report JAMMU, July 4: Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch (BTSM) has announced a week-long series of programmes across all districts of the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh to commemorate the 91st birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The announcement was made during a meeting of Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch held in Jammu under the leadership of Dr. Vivek Sharma, National Co-Convener of the Intellectual Forum of Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch and President of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Union Territories. Addressing the meeting, Dr. Sharma said that Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch units across both Union Territories will organise a wide range of educational, cultural, spiritual, and humanitarian programmes to celebrate the occasion. The events will include seminars, prayer meetings, exhibitions, tree plantation drives, and interactive sessions with students and youth to spread the timeless messages of compassion, peace, non-violence, and universal brotherhood advocated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Dr. Sharma stated that His Holiness has devoted his life to promoting universal human values, interfaith harmony, non-violence, and the preservation of Tibetan culture and heritage. His teachings, he said, continue to inspire millions of people across the world to cultivate compassion, wisdom, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence. He further emphasised that the week-long celebrations are intended not only to mark the 91st birthday of His Holiness but also to raise public awareness about his lifelong contribution to global peace, environmental responsibility, humanitarian values, and the promotion of dialogue as a means of resolving conflicts. Dr. Sharma noted that His Holiness the Dalai Lama was born on July 6, 1935, in Taktser, Tibet, and will celebrate his 91st birthday on July 6, 2026. On this occasion, Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch has appealed to people from all walks of life to participate in the celebrations and reaffirm the ideals of peace, compassion, mutual respect, and harmony that His Holiness has championed throughout his life.
