| General Category People's Front holds meeting | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 4: A meeting of General Category People's Front was held under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, Chairman of the Front. In the meeting members of the Front discussed in detail the challenges being faced by the General Category People in the country. Addressing the meeting Yash Paul Sanson, President of the Front, strongly condemned the continuous neglect and suppression of General Category People by the Governments. Caste discrimination has set to reach unprecedented heights during last few years. Governments do not have free will to review the continuation of reservation. He demanded 'Equality Act' to ensure equal rights and equal laws for all. S.N. Sharma, Gen. Secretary of Front alleged that promotion of caste and casteism is a curse for India. It should be curbed and Govt. should safeguard the rights and liberties of all its citizens, should not act in autocratic and dictatorial way. It is great injustice to treat the capable and incapable, the intelligent and fools alike. It is welcoming step the General Category people have started showing unity against caste discrimination. Sharma hailed the statements of Mrs. Mayavati and Sh. Akhilesh Jadav demanding reservation for the poor of General Category. V.K Sharma and Bhushan Pargal expressed deep concern over sudden spike in prices of essential commodities and pointed fingers towards economic policies of the government that led perpetuation on the price rise. Jadish Dora, Vice -Chairman of the Front condemned donation theft in Ram ji Mandir and demanded strict action against the culprits to restore the faith of the Hindus. He demanded 200 unit free electricity to all consumers. He also stressed for the enhancement of Medical Allowance of employees and pensioners from Rs. 300/- to Rs. 1000/- per month. He said in JKUT, the population of General Category is about 70% but they are awarded only 30 percent reservation which is great injustice in the end Banathia thanked all participants for their active support. |
