Govt Polytechnic Jammu first in J&K to complete PM Vishwakarma Advanced Training

JAMMU, July 4: Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk, Jammu, today successfully concluded the Advanced Training Programme in which 27 trainees under Tailor Trade under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme with a formal valedictory function. With the successful completion of this programme, the institution has become the first Government Polytechnic in Jammu & Kashmir to conclude the Advanced Training Programme under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, marking a significant milestone in the implementation of the flagship initiative in the Union Territory.
The Advanced Training Programme was organized with the objective of enhancing the technical competencies of traditional tailors through comprehensive hands-on training in advanced tailoring techniques, garment construction, quality standards, and the use of modern sewing equipment. The programme also covered entrepreneurship development, financial literacy, digital transactions, and business management, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills required to establish and expand sustainable enterprises.
The valedictory function was presided over by Er. Talet Mahmood, Principal, Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk, Jammu, in the presence of Er. Sukhdeep Singh, Single Point of Contact (SPoC), PM Vishwakarma Scheme, and Sh. Tareq Amin, Head, Department of Travel & Tourism. Addressing the trainees, Er. Talet Mahmood congratulated the participants on the successful completion of the advanced training programme and encouraged them to effectively utilize the technical knowledge and practical skills acquired during the training to strengthen their livelihoods through self-employment and entrepreneurship. He emphasized the importance of continuous skill upgradation and appreciated the commitment, discipline, and enthusiasm demonstrated by the trainees throughout the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Er. Sukhdeep Singh highlighted the significance of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in empowering traditional artisans by providing quality skill training, access to modern tools, financial assistance, and market linkages. He commended the trainees for their active participation and dedication and expressed confidence that the skills acquired would enable them to enhance their productivity and economic prospects.
Sh. Tareq Amin congratulated the participants and encouraged them to capitalise on the opportunities offered by the PM Vishwakarma Scheme to become self-reliant entrepreneurs and contribute meaningfully to the region's socio-economic development.
The successful completion of the programme reflects the commitment of Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk, Jammu, towards promoting skill development, entrepreneurship, and capacity building among traditional artisans. By becoming the first Government Polytechnic in Jammu & Kashmir to conclude the Advanced Training Programme under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, the institution has set a benchmark for the effective implementation of the scheme in the Union Territory.
