Early Times Report REASI, July 4: Continuing its sustained drive against drug abuse under the 'Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan', District Police Reasi has registered three separate cases under the NDPS Act against individuals found consuming narcotic substances within the jurisdiction of Police Station Reasi. Acting on reliable information, Police Station Reasi received inputs that Rakesh Sharma, S/o Satpal Sharma, R/o Gran Morh, Reasi, had consumed narcotic substances near IRP Chowk, Reasi. A police team immediately reached the spot, apprehended the individual, and subjected him to a medical examination using a Rapid Multi Drug Urine Test Kit. The test confirmed that he was under the influence of Marijuana. Accordingly, FIR No. 127/2026 under Section 8/27 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Reasi. The accused is a habitual offender and has previously been involved in the following cases: FIR No. 162/2024 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act. FIR No. 163/2024 under Section 303(1) of the BNS. FIR No. 62/2025 under Sections 303(2) and 324(3) of the BNS. In another similar action, Police Station Reasi apprehended Parkash Singh, S/o Mohan Singh, R/o Gran Morh, Reasi, from near his residence at Gran Morh and subjected him to a medical examination using a Rapid Multi Drug Urine Test Kit, which returned a positive result. Consequently, FIR No. 126/2026 under Section 8/27 of the NDPS Act was registered. The accused has a criminal history and has previously been involved in the following cases: FIR No. 166/2019 under Sections 8/35/20 of the NDPS Act. FIR No. 115/2022 under Section 379 of the IPC. FIR No. 275/2022 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act. FIR No. 54/2024 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act. FIR No. 110/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act. Acting on another reliable input, Reasi Police apprehended Vipan Kumar, S/o Bittu Kumar, R/o Ward No. 02, Christian Colony, Reasi, who had allegedly consumed narcotic substances near Christian Colony. He was subjected to a Rapid Multi Drug Urine Test Kit, which confirmed that he too was under the influence of Marijuana. Accordingly, FIR No. 125/2026 under Section 8/27 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Reasi. Further investigation in all three cases is underway. District Police Reasi reiterates its firm commitment to eliminating the menace of drug abuse and narcotics trafficking from society. The public is once again urged to cooperate with the police by sharing credible information regarding drug-related activities. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential. |
