| MVD Rajouri cracks down on violators; seizes 3 E-Autos, issues 13 challans, imposes Rs 32000 penalty | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, July 4: The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Rajouri carried out a comprehensive enforcement-cum-awareness drive across Rajouri town to ensure compliance with transport regulations, promote road safety and protect the interests of commuters. The drive was led by Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Rajouri Ashiq Rafiq Malik along with his enforcement team. During the operation, around 85 e-autos were thoroughly checked for compliance with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and other transport regulations. The enforcement team seized three e-autos found violating the prescribed norms and issued 13 challans including 10 to e-autos and three to other vehicles. A total penalty of ?32,000 was imposed on the violators. As part of the awareness initiative, the ARTO visited the Old Bus Stand and District Hospital area, where he directed e-auto operators to prominently display the approved fare list inside their vehicles and strictly refrain from charging passengers any amount beyond the notified fares. During the inspection, the ARTO interacted with passengers and enquired about the fares being charged by e-auto operators. He assured commuters that the department is committed to ensuring transparent fare practices and taking strict action against overcharging and other violations. He also appealed to all transport operators to comply with traffic and transport regulations, maintain proper documentation and cooperate with the department in providing safe, reliable and commuter-friendly transport services. Motor Vehicles Inspector (MVI) Lakhvinder Singh and other officials of the Motor Vehicles Department accompanied the ARTO during the enforcement-cum-awareness drive. |
