| India’s rising global stature is making Pakistan uncomfortable: Bali Bhagat | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 5: Senior BJP leader and former Minister Bali Bhagat has strongly condemned the recent remarks made by Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the controversy surrounding the “Guardian of the Blue Horizon” award conferred on him by Seychelles, describing them as irresponsible, politically motivated and reflective of Pakistan’s continued obsession with India. Bhagat said that instead of indulging in unfounded criticism of India’s democratically elected leadership, Pakistan’s political establishment should focus on addressing the grave challenges confronting its own country, including economic instability, governance issues, rising extremism and the welfare of its citizens. He said India’s growing global stature is the result of consistent economic progress, strong democratic institutions, decisive leadership and an independent foreign policy that has earned respect across the international community. Honours conferred by sovereign nations are their independent decisions and deserve to be respected rather than politicised through baseless allegations. Bhagat stated that repeated attempts by Pakistan’s leaders to target India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot divert international attention from Pakistan’s own challenges. He said the country’s reputation has for years been affected by concerns over terrorism and extremism, and meaningful reforms at home would serve its people far better than provocative statements against India. “The people of Pakistan deserve peace, stability and development. Unfortunately, their leadership continues to resort to anti-India rhetoric instead of concentrating on economic revival, employment generation and internal reforms,” the proposed statement said. Bhagat further observed that India’s rise as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies and its expanding diplomatic engagement have strengthened its standing on the global stage. He asserted that attempts to undermine India’s achievements through rhetoric would neither diminish its international credibility nor affect its commitment to peace, development and regional stability. Calling upon Pakistan to abandon hostility and embrace constructive engagement, Bhagat said lasting peace in South Asia can only be achieved through responsible leadership, respect for sovereignty and an uncompromising stand against terrorism. He reiterated that India will continue to pursue its national interests with confidence while exposing misinformation and remaining committed to the security, prosperity and progress of its people. |
