| Won’t tolerate Inclusion of Anti-National Content in Government institutions, libraries | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, July 5: Today in a press statement issued by Advocate Ronik Sharma Social activist and Convenor Roots in POJK has issued a sharp condemnation regarding the reported inclusion of a highly controversial book( Great Personalities and legends of Jammu and Kashmir) in government institutions, libraries and schools across Jammu & Kashmir by the School Education department few days back. The book in question allegedly not only promotes separatist figures, glorifies individuals involved in acts of terror but also uses the terminology that challenges the sovereignty of India. Advocate Sharma expressed deep outrage over the contents, which reportedly hail Maqbool Bhat as a “martyr,” despite his documented involvement in active terror activities and his efforts to secede Jammu & Kashmir from India. The book also allegedly portrays figures such as Masarat Alam, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, and Shabir Shah as “legends” and “role models” for the younger generation, while referring to the region as “Indian-occupied Kashmir” and describing Mirwaiz Umar Farooq as the “last hope” for Kashmir. Mr Sharma stated that this is a grave and intolerable offence by including such material in our government institutions, the authorities are not merely providing literature; they are systematically poisoning the minds of the next younger generation which is not acceptable. They are signalling to our youth that those who incited stone-pelting, acted as mouthpieces for the Pakistani ISI, and caused bloodshed for decades are figures to be emulated. This is a pre-planned conspiracy to radicalise our younger generations through such kind of anti-national content in the book. Advocate Sharma stressed that the narrative within this anti-national book directly mirrors the agenda of the pro Pakistani establishment and undermines the sacrifices made by true nationalist heroes for the valour of the Nation. Our teaching institutions should teach our students about patriots who sacrificed their lives for the unity and integrity of country and not to promote traitors. A book that praises masterminds of terror and traitors labels our own nation as an ‘occupier’ has no place in any library in this country. Mr. Sharma has demanded an Immediate Ban, prompt removal and destruction of all copies of the controversial book from every government institution and in any public book stalls, library in Jammu & Kashmir or any part of the country and also put the culprits behind bars. He also demanded a thorough investigation into the expert committee, publishers, and authors responsible for the content, as well as the Education Minister and officials involved in the approval and distribution process. A comprehensive audit of all curriculum and library materials to ensure they align with the national interest and prevent the infiltration of anti-India narratives by these kind of anti-nationals. We cannot allow our educational institutions to become breeding grounds for separatist agenda and propaganda, those who are responsible for this act must be held accountable for this gross dereliction of duty and for attempting to subvert the national consciousness of our youth, Sharma added. |
