| Academy announces State Awards | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR ,June 11
Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today announced prestigious State Art Awards for the year 2008.After approval of the Judgments of 45th State Art exhibition by President of Academy and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah the formal orders were issued here from head office this after noon.
Giving details, Secretary Academy Zaffar Iqbal Manhas told that first two awards under senior category goes in favour of Rohit Verma and Gurpreet Kour.
The Award carries Rs.51000/- each a citation and a shawl.
Under Student Category Hilal Ahmed Khan and Varun Kumar have been adjudge first, Zaffar Informed . Zaffar further revealed Certificate of Merit under senior Artists and Student category were also approved. Aslam Naqshbandi, Amit Singh Salathia, Gayoor Hussan Vani, Kanchan Verma, Surjeet Singh Kukal , Anish Tikoo, Narinder Kumar and Renu have been selected for the certificates.
Secretary Academy further said in order to ensure participation of senior members of the artist community from all over the state in these exhibitions from this year we are starting an “Invitees Section “ .
Of 60 Exhibits on display as many as 26 belongs to professional category and others of students category, Zaffar said.
The Award ceremony will be held shortly in Srinagar, Zaffar said.
