IIT Jammu showcases young research talent through RISE-UP 2026 poster presentation

JAMMU, July 8: The Centre for Essential Skills (CES), Indian Institute of Technology Jammu, successfully organized the RISE-UP 2026 Internship Programme Poster Presentation, providing a platform for interns from across the country to showcase the outcomes of their two-month research journey under the mentorship of IIT Jammu faculty members.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 90 interns, who had been selected through a highly competitive process from over 2,000 applications received from universities and colleges across India. The interns presented research posters spanning diverse disciplines, including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Engineering, Mathematics, and Biosciences and Bioengineering.
The poster presentation was evaluated by distinguished faculty members of IIT Jammu, including Dr. Angshuman Kapil, Dr. Sudhakar Modem, Dr. Subhasis Bhattacharjee, Dr. Riya Bhowmik, Dr. Gaurav Ashok Bhaduri, Dr. Amrita Chatterjee, and Dr. Arvind Kumar, who assessed the presentations based on originality, technical depth, clarity of presentation, methodology, and overall research contribution.
Department-wise Best Poster Awards were presented to the outstanding interns in recognition of their exceptional research work and presentation skills.
Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu, addressed the participants and appreciated the interns for their dedication, scientific curiosity, and commitment to research. He encouraged them to continue pursuing research and innovation that contributes to addressing societal and technological challenges.
The programme was organized under the leadership of Prof. Meenakshi Rajeev, Dean, Outreach and Skill Development, and Dr. Rajkumar Velu, Associate Dean, Centre for Essential Skills and Skill Development, whose guidance and support ensured the successful execution of the internship programme and its concluding poster presentation.
The RISE-UP Internship Programme is one of IIT Jammu's flagship outreach initiatives aimed at providing undergraduate and postgraduate students with meaningful exposure to research and innovation.
During the internship, participants worked closely with faculty mentors on live research projects, gained practical laboratory experience, strengthened their analytical and technical skills, and developed competencies in scientific communication through poster preparation and presentation.
The programme continues to serve as an important platform for nurturing young researchers by exposing students to IIT Jammu's vibrant research ecosystem and state-of-the-art facilities. It also enables aspiring students from diverse academic backgrounds to experience the institute's culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence, thereby strengthening the connection between academia and research.
The successful completion of the RISE-UP 2026 Internship Programme reflects IIT Jammu's continued commitment to promoting research-based learning, capacity building, and the development of future scientists, engineers, and innovators who can contribute meaningfully to society and national technological advancement.
