Reasi police books overloaded mini-bus driver for reckless driving; vehicle seized

REASI, July 8: Reasi Police has once again demonstrated its firm commitment towards ensuring road safety by taking strict legal action against a commercial passenger vehicle driver for reckless overloading and endangering the lives of passengers.
On 08.07.2026, a police team of Police Check Post (PCP) Sool, Police Post Kakryal, while performing routine traffic checking and patrolling duties, noticed a commercial Mini-Bus being driven in a rash and negligent manner. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found overloaded with passengers beyond its authorized seating capacity posing a serious threat to the safety of other commuter.
Recognizing the grave danger, the police team promptly intercepted the vehicle and apprehended the driver on the spot. The driver was identified as Shubham Kumar, S/o Dewan Chand, R/o Sool, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi.
Accordingly, FIR No. 229/2026 has been registered at Police Station Katra under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash and negligent driving and acts endangering human life. The offending vehicle has also been seized for further legal proceedings.
Reasi Police reiterates that reckless driving, overloading of passenger vehicles and compromising public safety will not be tolerated. Special drives against traffic violations will continue across the district to ensure safer roads and prevent avoidable accidents.
