| Desist debating troop withdrawal: Chman | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 11: The leaders of the BJP Legislators Party, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has observed that the presence of troops in any part of the country, moreso, in the troubled state of Jammu and Kashmir, should not be made an issue of public debate as this would encourage secessionists and other those who have their own motives, and are out to malign the forces and thus, the image of India. Commenting upon the statement of the chief minister, Omar Abdullah that he wanted reduction in the troops to the level of pre -1989, Gupta said that the strength of the troops in Jammu and Kashmir was raised only after Pakistan had launched a proxy war through cross border terror in 1989, and this is still on though because of the hard efforts of the forces the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has been considerably, controlled but the designs of the perpetrators of terrorism still persisted. He said the attempts of infiltrations of highly trained and motivated ultras are going on unabated. The smuggling of most sophiscated weapons, explosives and other items of sabotage and subversion, is going on, in addition to the existence of the infrastructure for cross border terror in Pakistan occupied Kashmir as also in other areas under control of Pakistan said even the official reports confirm the presence of heavily armed terrorists in different areas of the state. He said that how a sad situation in Jammu and Kashmir still prevailed, can be judged from the fact that about five lakh migrants are still in camps and other places living like refugees with in their own country. These migrants also included over six thousand Muslim families who have been lodged in Jammu. But it was strange that instead of paying attention to the miseries and sufferings of these migrants and settling them back to the valley, some strange issues are being raised and forcing out the minorities and nationalists from their homes and hearth is not a matter of violation of human rights.
