| Protests, strike continue in Shopian | | Unrest will continue: JKLF | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar: Amid a complete strike, protest demonstrations continued in Shopian town of South Kashmir on thirteenth consecutive day on Thursday against the murder and rape of two women allegedly by unidentified men last month. According to reports entire Shopian town observed a complete strike for the 13th running day on Thursday. Shops, banks and other business establishment remained closed along with schools and other educational institutes. Public as well as private transport remained off the roads, the reports added. Meanwhile, thousands of people assembled at Jamia Masjid Shopian and took out a large procession. The protesters where led by imams of twenty three Masjids in the area, the sources added. Moving through the various lane and by-lanes of the town, the demonstrators, chanting slogans like “Hang killers”, “Asiya and Nelofer your killers are still free,” “punish SP,” were demanding identification and punishment to the killers. The entire town has remained on boil ever since the murder and rape of two women, Asiya (17) and her pregnant sister-in-law, Nelofer (22) during the intervening night of 29 and May 30. A delegation from Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, headed by advocate Bashir Bhat, visited the town and led a protest demonstration.
