| ABVP Submits Memorandum to Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 11: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh today submitted a memorandum to Hon’ble Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Sh. Sat Sharma (CA) seeking his immediate intervention for the timely commencement of admissions under the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) for the Academic Session 2026–27. ABVP highlighted that PMSSS has been one of the most significant initiatives of the Government of India for the students of Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh, enabling thousands of meritorious students from economically weaker and remote backgrounds to pursue higher education in reputed institutions across the country. The scheme has played a vital role in promoting educational empowerment, national integration and better career opportunities for the youth of the region. ABVP also drew attention to the AICTE Public Notice dated 15 June 2026, which states that, as per directions received from the Ministry of Education, AICTE is presently processing only renewal cases for the Academic Year 2026–27, while fresh applications will be invited only after approval from the Government of India. ABVP expressed concern that, despite more than three weeks having elapsed since the notification, approval for fresh admissions is still awaited, leaving thousands of aspiring students in uncertainty. In the memorandum, ABVP urged the Hon’ble Member of Parliament to take up the matter with the Ministry of Education and AICTE to ensure that the necessary approval is granted immediately and the PMSSS admission schedule is notified without further delay. The organization further demanded the early commencement of registration and counselling, transparent and time-bound document verification and seat allotment, a robust grievance redressal mechanism, and extensive awareness campaigns in rural and remote areas so that no eligible student is deprived of the benefits of the scheme. |
