Keylong (HP), June 11: Suspended for nine months due to heavy snowfall, the Delhi-Leh bus service resumed operations on Thursday, much to the delight of tourists.
The bus service of Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) was suspended on September 15 last year due to snowfall, leaving the Manali-Leh road closed.
All 37 seats of the bus were booked in advance and many people had to return disappointed.
The bus, which started from Delhi on June 9 evening reached Keylong bus depot last evening and left for its onward journey to Leh in Jammu and Kashmir early this morning.
The Manali-Leh road was cleared by Border Road Organisation personnel last week.
The bus crosses through difficult hilly terrains, including Baralacha pass situated at a height of 4670 metre and Tanglane 4753 metre before reaching Leh located at an altitude of 3522 metre.
