| BJP OBC Morcha visits cloudburst-hit areas of Thathri, carries out relief work | | | Early Times Report DODA, July 11: A delegation of BJP OBC Morcha office bearers visited the cloudburst-affected area of Thathri in Doda district and actively participated in relief and civil restoration work to assist the affected families. BJP OBC Morcha District President Munir Sheikh along with Akther Sheikh, Munir Khan, Manan Bhat, and Ghulam Hussain. The team visited several villages in the 52-Doda Assembly Constituency under Mandal Thathri to assess the extent of damage caused by the recent cloudburst and interacted with local residents to understand their grievances. The BJP OBC Morcha leaders expressed deep concern over the widespread devastation caused by the natural calamity. They stated that the cloudburst has resulted in extensive damage to residential houses, agricultural land, roads, and other public infrastructure, causing immense hardship to the local population. During their visit, the Morcha workers also undertook civil restoration work and extended all possible assistance to the affected residents. Speaking on the occasion, District President Munir Sheikh said that the people of the affected areas have suffered enormous losses and are desperately waiting for timely relief and rehabilitation. However, despite the seriousness of the situation, the National Conference-led government has failed to provide adequate assistance to the victims. The Morcha office bearers alleged that the NC government and the local MLA, Mehraj Malik, have remained largely absent from the ground and have failed to address the urgent concerns of the people. They said that instead of ensuring immediate relief, restoration of damaged infrastructure, and compensation for the affected families, the government has left the people to fend for themselves. BJP OBC Morcha Jammu & Kashmir UT President Braham Jyot Satti strongly criticized the National Conference government for what he termed its insensitive and negligent approach towards the victims of the cloudburst. He said that whenever people face natural disasters, it is the responsibility of the government to respond swiftly with relief measures, rehabilitation, and continuous support. Unfortunately, the present NC government has failed to fulfill this basic responsibility, leaving the affected families disappointed and helpless. He further said that the people of Doda are witnessing complete administrative failure and that the concerned MLA, Mehraj Malik, has failed to stand with the people during one of their most difficult times. Instead of ensuring immediate assistance and raising the concerns of the victims before the government, the local representative has remained ineffective while the suffering of the people continues to grow. He urged the Jammu & Kashmir administration to immediately conduct a comprehensive assessment of the losses, provide adequate compensation to all affected families, restore damaged roads and essential public services on a war footing, and ensure that no affected household is left without relief. He reiterated that BJP OBC Morcha will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Doda and will keep raising their genuine concerns until every affected family receives justice, relief, and proper rehabilitation. |
