DC Poonch reviews arrangements for grand Independence Day 2026 celebrations

POONCH, July 11: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the preparedness for the forthcoming Independence Day, 2026 celebrations in the district. The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police, Shafket Hussain Bhat, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tahir Mustafa Malik, officers from the district administration, police and other allied departments. During the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting departmental responsibilities and the progress achieved in the preparations.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed all key arrangements, including security and traffic management, venue decoration, seating arrangements, Public Address System, Shehnai Vadan, parade and cultural performances, vehicle parking, fire safety measures, barricading, refreshments and hospitality for guests, uninterrupted power and water supply, illumination of government buildings and cleanliness drives in and around the venue.
Emphasising the importance of meticulous planning, the Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned officers to complete their assigned responsibilities well in time and ensure that every arrangement is made as per established protocols and past practice. He stressed that there should be no lapse in coordination or execution.
The main Independence Day function will be held at Sports Stadium Poonch, where the Chief Guest will unfurl the National Flag and take the salute during the ceremonial march-past presented by various contingents. Colourful cultural performances showcasing the rich heritage and patriotic spirit of the nation will also form part of the celebrations.
The Deputy Commissioner called upon all departments to work in close coordination and uphold the spirit of unity, discipline and patriotism to ensure that Independence Day 2026 is celebrated in a grand, inclusive and memorable manner across the district.
