| Inclusion of Pahari legislators in the council of Ministers demanded | | | Early Times Report Rajouri June 12 Pahari Peoples Movement (PPM) has demanded inclusion of Pahari legislators in the council of Ministers and providing reservation to the community in Parliament so that the voice of the people could be raised and problems redressed. In a meeting of Pahari leaders here in the Dak Banglow Rajouri, Chief Executive of Pahari Peoples Movement, Shahbaz Khan said that coalition government in the state must include Pahari legislators in Council of Ministers. He added if Pahari legislators are not being included in the ministry, government will deliver injustice to this community. Shahbaz Khan also demanded inclusion of pahari representation in Parliament so that it could raise the voice of this community. Further highlighting the demand of granting scheduled tribe status to Pahari community, Khan said that many former Chief Ministers recommended ST status to this community to Central government but no step has been taken in this regard till date. Giving details, Khan said that on October 14, 1991, then Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir Dr Farooq Abdullah approached Centre Government in black and white and recommended to provide ST status to Paharis. On December 26, 1993, then Governor of the state K.V. Krishna Rao also wrote an official letter to then Union Social Welfare Minister Sita Ram Kesri in which it was strongly recommended to include this community in the ST category. Despite various recommendations and reports submitted time and again, the government turned deaf ear to this demand that annoyed the people of this community and they adopted another way to get their demand accepted.
