6/12/2009 10:04:18 PM
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR : Ruling out the presence of any Taliban militant in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram today said infiltration from across the border was going on.
Talking to reporters here today before leaving for Delhi, he said there was no report about the presence of Taliban in the state.
"We have no intelligence or any other report about the Taliban in Jammu and Kashmir," he said in reply to a question.
However, he said infiltration from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) was going on.
The Army and other security forces have been able to kill many infiltrators on the border, he said and admitted that some had managed to sneak here.
He said troops guarding the borders were on alert to foil any infiltration attempt.
The Home Minister said the militancy related incidents in the Valley have come down but infiltration continued.
He said infiltrators were sneaking into this side with a message to cause disturbances. They were not tourists but militants who indulge in violence, he said.
