Lady among two drug peddlers held, heroin recovered

SAMBA, July 13: In its sustained drive against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, Samba Police has achieved another significant breakthrough by arresting two more drug peddlers including one lady drug peddler within the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur and recovered approximately 20 grams heroin-like substance (Chitta) from their possession.
Acting on information received from reliable sources, a team of Police Station Vijaypur laid a vehicle checking naka on Rakh Barotian-Shiv Nagar link road near Shamshan Ghat and intercepted one Ertiga car bearing registration No. PB01F-0894 for its checking which was coming from Rakh Barotian and moving towards Shiv Nagar, Vijaypur. During search and checking, approximately 20 grams heroin-like substance (Chitta) was recovered from the possession of two persons sitting in the said car.
The drug peddlers identified as Mohd Atif S/o Mohd Saleem and Salma Sheikh W/o Mohd Atif both residents of Ward No. 17 Shanker Nagar Udhampur have been arrested. The contraband item alongwith vehicle has also been seized by the Police.
A case FIR No.117/2026 U/S 8/21/22/25 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation started.
Samba Police reiterated its firm commitment and resolve to take stringent action against drug peddlers and smugglers in order to effectively curb the drug menace and ensure a safe and drug-free society.
