Reasi, July 18: Continuing its unwavering campaign against the drug menace under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Reasi Police has achieved another major success by attaching two immovable properties belonging to habitual drug peddlers under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Today, Police Station Katra attached two residential houses under Section 68F of the NDPS Act, each valued at approximately ₹10 lakh, as part of its sustained efforts to dismantle the financial infrastructure of drug traffickers. The first attached property belongs to Laqut Ali S/o Kala Mohd, R/o Chak Bhagta, Katra, a notorious drug peddler involved in the following cases: - FIR No. 103/2024 under Sections 8/20/29 NDPS Act of Police Station Katra. - FIR No. 185/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act of Police Station Katra. The accused is presently in judicial custody and lodged in Sub Jail Reasi. The second attached property belongs to Hussain Mohd S/o Sharief Mohd, R/o Chamba Chandua, Katra, who is involved in: - FIR No. 51/2023 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act of Police Station Katra. - FIR No. 122/2016 under Sections 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act of Police Station Katra. The accused is presently detained under the PIT NDPS Act and lodged in District Jail Rajouri. During the course of investigation and enquiry, both residential houses were identified as illegally acquired properties, prima facie generated through the proceeds of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Consequently, the properties have been attached under the provisions of Section 68F of the NDPS Act to prevent their transfer or disposal. Reasi Police remains committed to the vision of a Drug-Free Jammu & Kashmir and will continue to take stringent legal action not only against drug traffickers but also against properties and assets acquired through proceeds of the illegal narcotics trade. Such decisive measures are aimed at dismantling the economic network of drug peddlers and sending a strong message that crime does not pay. Reasi Police once again appeals to the public to actively support the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan by sharing credible information regarding drug trafficking and substance abuse. Public cooperation remains vital in building a safer, healthier, and drug-free society. |
