PM Modi’s Earnest Appeal
7/20/2026 10:50:56 PM
As the Monsoon session of the Parliament has commenced, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged all Parliamentarians to hold discussions with logic and facts.
The Prime Minister said whether it is the seasonal monsoon or the monsoon session, if both are proactive, they become highly productive and if both are productive, the welfare of the country happens.
“Therefore, we pray for just this --that the monsoon remains proactive and the monsoon session remains productive,” he said.
India’s Parliament has historically been the arena where some of the country’s most significant reforms have been debated and enacted. Landmark economic, social, and constitutional measures have emerged from vigorous discussions that combined differing viewpoints with a shared commitment to national interest.
Healthy disagreement is an essential feature of democracy, but disagreement should never descend into disorder. Constructive criticism, supported by evidence and reason, strengthens governance far more than disruptions that consume valuable legislative time.
The expectations from this session are considerable. Several important bills and policy issues require careful examination, while discussions on the economy, employment, agriculture, national security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and social welfare remain vital.
The Parliament also serves as the platform where elected representatives raise regional concerns, ensuring that every corner of the country finds a voice in national policymaking.
These responsibilities demand serious participation from both the treasury benches and the opposition.
Unfortunately, repeated disruptions have become an unfortunate feature of many recent parliamentary sessions.
Frequent adjournments not only delay legislative business but also diminish public confidence in democratic institutions. Every minute lost in avoidable confrontation represents a missed opportunity to address pressing national issues.
Taxpayers rightfully expect their elected representatives to utilize parliamentary time responsibly and efficiently.
The Prime Minister’s appeal for discussions rooted in logic and facts should therefore be viewed as a call to elevate the quality of parliamentary discourse.
Facts foster informed decision-making, while logical debate enables competing perspectives to be evaluated on merit. Democracy flourishes when arguments are won through persuasion rather than noise, and when public policy is shaped through evidence rather than emotion.
India stands at a crucial stage of its development journey, aspiring to become a developed nation in the coming decades. Achieving this vision requires stable institutions, effective governance, and a Parliament capable of addressing complex challenges with maturity and foresight. Political parties may differ in ideology, but they share a common responsibility toward the nation’s progress.
