Early Times Report JAMMU, July 23: The 15th J&K UT Shooting Championship 2026 commenced today at the Shooting Range of the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), J&K, and the Mission Olympic Shooting Academy, Jammu. The championship was inaugurated by Surinder Singh Sodhi President JKRA in the esteemed presence of Kuldeep Singh Jamwal Chairman JKRA, Sharat Chander Singh W. General Secretary/CEO JKRA, Manu Pratap Singh Wazir Joint Secretary and Arun Mansotra Treasurer JKRA. The occasion was also graced by Sukhdev Sharma District Officer Youth Services and Sports J&K Jammu. The Championship is being Organized by the J&K Rifle Association (JKRA) from July 23 to 27 under the aegis of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) and in collaboration with DYSS J&K and sponsored by J&K Sports Council. Speaking on the occasion S. S.S Sodhi President JKRA, praised the growing enthusiasm for shooting among the youth, describing it as "a sport of discipline, concentration and precision." He lauded the remarkable talent emerging from Jammu & Kashmir. He said the increasing participation of young boys and girls in shooting reflects the region's immense sporting potential and the positive impact of sustained efforts to develop the Shooting Sports in J&K UT. Welcoming the participants, Sharat Chander Singh W. General Secretary/CEO JKRA and Organizing Secretary of the championship, highlighted the visionary support extended by the UT Government through its departments i.e J&K Sports Council and Department of youth Services and Sports and the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India through the KHELO INDIA initiative. He encouraged young shooters to strive for excellence and spoke about his continued efforts to promote the sport across Jammu & Kashmir and the country. More than 200 shooters from across the Union Territory are participating in the championship, which is being conducted at the DYSS Shooting Range, Gandhi Nagar Jammu, the Mission Olympic Shooting Academy, Jammu, and the NCC Shooting Range, Nagrota, under the supervision of Organizing Secretary Sh. Sharat Chander Singh. Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, Chairman of JKRA, proposed the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, guests & Shooters, for their support and presence in the event. The matches are being conducted by the technical panel comprising Rajesh virdhy, Vishal Mehra, Pranav Sambyal, Sahil Sharma, Vijay Kumar, Surjeet Singh, Aman Singh, Renu Devi & Vishal Sharma. |
