Let me begin this write up with “A clean Tawi is a clean Jammu, and a clean Jammu is a proud Jammu”. So we should keep Tawi neat, clean and pure so that it continues to be glory of the city of temples. The Tawi river lovingly called Suryaputri Tawi, is not merely a river alone but is the lifeline of Jammu .It is deeply connected with the city’s history, culture, ecology and spiritual heritage. Flowing through the heart of Jammu, the Tawi has nurtured civilization for centuries and has remained a symbol of faith, prosperity, and identity. However, increasing pollution, unplanned urbanization, and public neglect have put this sacred river under severe environmental stress. Preserving and restoring, the Tawi is both an environmental necessity and a socio-moral responsibility. The Sacred river Tawi is believed to be the daughter of Sun God and this river has great importance in religion,spirituality ,culture and social life.It is besides the life line of Jammu and sustains its agriculture and in fact the human life.Jammu which is the city of temples is situated on the banks of river Tawi.There is great need to keep river Tawi neat and clean and for this the government,civil society, NGO’s and other stakeholders have the responsibility to ensure that the river is kept neat and clean .It is our bounden ,moral and social duty to keep this sacred river pure,neat and clean.It is very disturbing and sorry state of affairs that today sacred,divine and pure river Tawi has been made impure ,dirty and polluted never before and it is a serious cause of concern to the religious people and environmentalists of Jammu and Kashmir. Tawi has a multifaceted role as a source of spiriutuality,ecology,economic activity,and environmental sustainability. To Keep Tawi neat and clean stresses that the future of Jammu’s environment,public health, tourism, and sustainable development depends on protecting the Tawi. The title of the article captures the journey from environmental degradation to ecological restoration through sustainable policies, public participation,and responsible governance.It is necessary to revive the rivers pristine beauty as well as glory while preserving its historical ,cultural,and religious importance.We should be hopeful and possess determination to restore the river to its former glory.Protecting the Tawi is not solely the government’s duty and responsibility but a shared responsibility of every citizen ,institution, and stakeholder. Tawi is not just the river but the lifeline of Jammu. There is urgent need to conserve its ecological, cultural, and spiritual significance for future generations. The Tawi river, affectionately known as Suryaputri Tawi, is much more than a flowing river. It is the lifeblood and soul of Jammu, the cradle of its civilization ,and enduring symbol of its cultural, spiritual, and ecological heritage. For centuries,the river has sustained human settlements, nourished agriculture, supported biodiversity, and inspired countless generations. Today, however, this sacred river faces mounting threats from pollution, enchrochments, indiscriminate waste disposal, and unplanned growth. Pilgrims and devotees regard this river as sacred and many religious ceremonies are performed on the banks of the river.Preserving thus the purity of Tawi is therefore an expression of respect for faith and heritage.A polluted sacred Tawi diminishes both its spiritual significance and the dignity of Jammu city.

These activities not only pollute the river but also threaten aquatic life and public life.
