Srinagar June 13 A major tragedy was averted today when the security forces detected an IED on Indra Gandhi road at Nadir Gund crossing today, which was later defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad of Police.
Official sources said that a road opening party of CRPF detected an IED at Nadir Gund crossing while making anti-sabotage check of Indra Gandhi Road (Air Port Road) this morning.
Bomb Disposal Squad of Jammu and Kashmir police was called from Budgam who disposed off the IED with out causing any harm to the life and property.
It is pertinent to mention that the IED was planted to sabotage the rally of National Conference at Humhama which was addressed by the Union minister and NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah.
However police claims that the venue of the rally was far off from the crossing where an IED was detected and defused.
