AKHNOOR, July 30: MLA Akhnoor, chaired a high-level review meeting with officers of the Flood Control, Irrigation, PWD (R&B), PDD and PHE Departments to review the progress of works being executed under the SASCI Scheme and Permanent Restoration projects across the Akhnoor Assembly Constituency. During the meeting, the MLA conducted a detailed review of the physical and financial progress of ongoing projects and directed all departments to ensure strict quality control and timely completion of works. He stressed that developmental projects must be completed within the stipulated time without compromising quality so that people receive the intended benefits at the earliest. Expressing concern over delays in execution, Mohan Lal Bhagat directed all Executive Engineers to initiate stern action against contractors who have failed to commence works despite receiving allotments. He said that negligence and unnecessary delays in public works would not be tolerated and accountability must be fixed wherever required. The MLA further instructed all departments to ensure prompt and efficient public service delivery. While reviewing the functioning of the Power Development Department (PDD), he directed officers to make linemen accountable for timely redressal of power-related complaints and to improve field-level responsiveness. Reviewing the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, Mohan Lal Bhagat directed officials to keep alternate pumps and motors available at all pumping stations to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply, particularly during emergencies. He also reviewed the progress of various Jal Jeevan Mission schemes and instructed officers to expedite pending works while maintaining the highest standards of quality. During the review of the Irrigation Department, the MLA directed officials to prepare a comprehensive irrigation upgradation plan for the Pargwal area to strengthen irrigation infrastructure and improve water availability for farmers. Reiterating his commitment to transparent and accountable governance, Mohan Lal Bhagat emphasized that all departments must work in close coordination to ensure timely completion of projects and effective delivery of essential public services. He assured that such review meetings would continue on a regular basis to monitor progress and remove bottlenecks.
The meeting was attended by Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Akhnoor Sanjeev Sharma, Executive Engineer PDD Sunil Kumar, Executive Engineer PHE Sunil Sharma, Executive Engineer Irrigation Sanjeev Gupta, Executive Engineer Flood Control Rajeev Gupta, along with other engineers and departmental officers.
