JAMMU, July 30: To ensure that the elderly residents live in a cheerful, lively, and socially engaging environment, and to reduce their sense of loneliness and isolation through meaningful interaction, the Home for the Aged & Infirm (Vridh Ashram), Ambphalla, Jammu, has been conducting a Social Internship Programme in collaboration with various universities & colleges. Under this initiative, students regularly visit the Home to spend quality time with the residents through conversations, recreational activities, cultural interactions, and companionship, while also developing empathy, discipline, and respect for Senior Citizens.
As part of this initiative, a batch of five students successfully completed their Social Internship today. The interns included Ms. Kalash and Ms. Palak Sharma from Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University, Dehradun, and Ms. Ishita, Ms. Saniya Gupta, and Mr. Lakshnaya Sharma from Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar.
The internship completion certificates were presented today by Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary, in the presence of the Management Committee Members, S. Rajinder Singh and Shri Sat Pal Sharma. Congratulating the students, Dr. Gupta appreciated their dedication, sincerity, and compassionate service towards the elderly residents and wished them success in their future academic and professional careers.
On the occasion, Dr. Gupta said that the objective of the Social Internship Programme is not merely to fulfil academic requirements but to nurture humanitarian values among young people. The students expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to serve the Elderly and described the internship as a memorable and life-enriching experience that strengthened their sense of social responsibility and inspired them to continue serving society with empathy and compassion.
