| New book unveils struggle of Kashmiri Pandit women | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 13: The book by Prof. Suneethi Bakhshi on “Kashmir: The history and Pandit Women’s struggle for identity” was released by Dr. Farooq Abdullah union minister for renewable energy. The book launch was organized jointly by the J&K forum for peace and reconciliation and vitasta publishing pvt. ltd. Delhi at Jammu. The synopsis of the book and a review of the book was presented by Vijay Bakaya, MLC and former chief secretary Jatender Bakshi in his welcome address stated that Dr. Farooq Abdullah has always been very gracious to accept the invitation of the forum and he hopes that with his seat in the corridors of power at Delhi, he will be able to restore to Jammu and Kashmir an era of development and prosperity. Renu Kaul Verma the publisher and the managing director of vitasta publishing pvt. ltd made a few remarks and the author of the book Prof. Suneethi Bakshi also spoke and emphasized that the book is a must for the younger generation. Vijay Bakaya while presenting the review of the book appreciated the efforts made by Prof. Suneethi Bakhshi a non Kashmiri women married into a Kashmiri community who has presented such a vivid picture of Kashmir pandit women and the problems they have had to face in their struggle for their identity. Dr. Farooq Abdullah after the release of the book also appreciated the efforts made by Prof. Suneethi Bakhshi and said that this is the only book after Prem Nath Bazaz’s book on Kashmir Pandit Women which reflects the struggle of Kashmiri women for their identity. It is important to note that this book is the perceptive of an outsider who married into the community. Dr. Abdullah also highly commended the efforts put in by Prof. Suneethi Bakshi in writing this book and will serve as a document for the future generation and will remain as a part of history. Dr. Abdullah also threw light on Kashmiri pandit women and said that she has faced all the challenges boldly. He appreciated the role of Kashmiri pandit and Kashmiri Muslim women in the field of education and other related field. The vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Zahur-ud-Din, vice president of the forum and the function was ably conducted by Prof. Indu Kilam, the release added. Dr. Mustafa Kamal, MLA, Prof Posh Charak, wing com (Retd), M.M. Joshi, Laxmi Dutta and others.
