| Jammu Division's ticket checking staff show honesty and promptness, return stolen bag and unclaimed cash safely to passengers | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 1: The Ticket Checking Staff of Northern Railway, Jammu Division, demonstrated alertness and dedication by recovering and returning passengers' valuables in two separate incidents in a timely manner. As per the First Incident On 31 July 2026*, after Train No. 22429 Delhi-Pathankot Superfast departed from Amritsar station, information was received through Rail Madad that a passenger's bag had been stolen from coach D1-46. Acting immediately, the Ticket Checking Staff on duty contacted the passenger and gathered details. Upon enquiry with other passengers, it was found that some individuals had moved towards the general coaches. The checking staff then conducted a thorough search of the general coaches along with GRP staff and successfully recovered the passenger's bag in safe condition. In the presence of GRP, after completing the verification process, the bag was handed over to the passenger. All documents, essential items, and wallet were found safe inside the bag. The passenger expressed gratitude for the promptness and cooperation of the railway staff. Second Incident, On 29 July 2026, Ticket Checking Staff on duty in Train No. 12414 Jammu Tawi-Ajmer Pooja Galtadham Superfast found Rs 4,000 in cash lying unclaimed on Seat No. 43 in Coach B-3 during their duty. Using the reservation chart and PNR, the staff identified the passenger, who was found sleeping on another seat. After proper enquiry and verification, the amount was safely returned to the passenger. On getting his belongings back, the passenger expressed thanks to Indian Railways and the Ticket Checking Staff. Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu said, "The safety, comfort, and security of passengers' belongings are our top priority. In both incidents, our Ticket Checking Staff took timely action and further strengthened the passenger-friendly image of Railways.
