| 3 militants killed in Kupwara gun battle | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 14: Three militants have been killed in a fierce gun battle that raged in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday evening.
Reports said that Army’s 47 Rashtriya Rifles, on specific information regarding the presence of militants cordoned off Moosenad forests of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday night.
Sources said as the search party started combing operations to flush out the militants, they came under heavy fire. In the retaliatory fire, two suspected militants were killed. The operation was later suspended due to darkness.
On Sunday morning, they said the search party resumed their operation and killed one more militant in the encounter. The identity of the deceased militants could not be ascertained. The encounter was still going on, when reports last came in.
