JAMMU, Aug 9: The one-week online National Workshop on “Qualitative & Quantitative Data Analysis”, organised by the Postgraduate Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, concluded successfully after five days of intensive academic deliberations and hands-on training aimed at strengthening research methodology and data analysis competencies among scholars, faculty members, and students.
The workshop featured four technical sessions each day and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 81 registered participants from across the country and internationally, including research scholars, postgraduate students, faculty members, and academicians. The participants were exposed to both theoretical and practical dimensions of qualitative and quantitative research through expert lectures, demonstrations, and interactive discussions.
The workshop commenced with insightful sessions by Prof. Jaspreet Kaur, Professor, Delhi School of Business, New Delhi, who introduced the participants to the fundamentals of research methodology, qualitative and quantitative research, Systematic Literature Review (SLR), the TCCM and ADO frameworks, research design, problem formulation, and the role of Artificial Intelligence in identifying research gaps. She also conducted sessions on Mixed Methods Research and Thematic Analysis and demonstrated the application of NVIVO software for qualitative data coding, theme development, and visualisation.
Subsequently, Dr. Hitesh Parmar, Assistant Professor, Postgraduate Department of Business Management, Sardar Patel University, Gujarat, delivered comprehensive sessions on measurement models, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and the use of SmartPLS 4 for assessing measurement and structural models.
The participants gained practical exposure to evaluating reliability, validity, and structural relationships using PLS-SEM techniques.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Jeevan Jyoti, Head, Postgraduate Department of Commerce and Coordinator of the workshop, expressed satisfaction over the successful completion of the programme. She appreciated the overwhelming response from the participants and highlighted that the workshop reflects the Department’s continued commitment to promoting quality research and equipping scholars with contemporary analytical and methodological skills.
Prof. Jeevan Jyoti reiterated that such initiatives are aligned with the vision of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Umesh Rai, to strengthen the research ecosystem at the University of Jammu through continuous capacity-building, interdisciplinary learning, and promotion of high-quality research. She expressed confidence that the knowledge and practical skills gained during the workshop would significantly contribute to enhancing the research capabilities of the participants and encourage rigorous, ethical, and innovative research practices.
The concluding sessions were conducted by Prof. Neeraj Kaushik, Associate Professor, Department of Business Administration, NIT Kurukshetra, who introduced the participants to AMOS for Structural Equation Modelling. He covered model formulation, simple and multiple regression, and advanced concepts of Meta-Analysis, including effect size correction, Meta-SEM, and corrected effect size matrices. Through hands-on demonstrations, the participants also learned the practical implementation of Meta-SEM in AMOS, enhancing their understanding of advanced statistical modelling and empirical research.
Dr. Harleen, Deputy Coordinator of the workshop, thanked the distinguished resource persons for their valuable contributions and acknowledged the enthusiastic participation of scholars, faculty members, and students from different parts of the country. She also appreciated the dedication of the organising team and encouraged the participants to apply the knowledge acquired during the workshop in their future academic and research pursuits.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks, acknowledging the support of the University administration, expert resource persons, participants, and research scholars of the Department, whose coordinated efforts ensured the successful organisation and smooth conduct of the workshop. |
