Early Times Report
NEW DELHI, Aug 10: Pondicherry University hosted the Research Conclave 2026 on August 7 under the chairmanship of Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu, providing a vibrant platform to showcase the University's diverse research achievements and innovative work.
Ph.D. scholars from various disciplines, including Arts, Sciences, Humanities, Engineering and Management, presented their research findings, innovative ideas and research projects. The conclave witnessed enthusiastic participation from thousands of students and research scholars, along with the University's Directors, Registrar, faculty members and students.
The research presentations were evaluated by a panel of experts from different disciplines based on scientific merit, innovation, relevance and potential impact. The best research presentations across different disciplines were ranked, and the outstanding research works will be honoured with awards during the University's Independence Day celebrations.
Interacting with the research scholars, Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu appreciated their efforts and encouraged them to take their research beyond academic publications. He emphasised the importance of patenting, technology transfer and commercialisation, stressing the need to translate research outcomes into solutions that create meaningful social and economic impact.
The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the Research and Development Cell and Director (R&D) Prof. R. Rukkumani, along with Dr. Vijayakumar, Chief Librarian, and the library staff, for their meticulous planning and effective arrangements that contributed to the successful conduct of the conclave.
Prof. P. Prakash Babu also called for the organisation of more academic and research-oriented programmes to nurture a strong research temperament and culture among students and scholars and to encourage them to pursue innovative and interdisciplinary research.
One of the major attractions of the conclave was the 'Research Tree', which showcased innovative research ideas and concepts developed by scholars. Symbolising the growth, diversity and interconnectedness of research at the University, the Research Tree drew considerable attention from the participants.
A specially designed selfie stand also became a popular attraction among students and research scholars, adding to the enthusiasm and engagement during the event.
The Research Conclave 2026 thus emerged as an important academic platform celebrating research excellence, promoting innovation and collaboration, and providing students and scholars an opportunity to appreciate the breadth of research being undertaken across Pondicherry University. The event further reinforced the University's commitment to building a dynamic, innovative and impact-oriented research ecosystem.
