Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 12: Samooh Theatre (Regd.), Jammu presented its 60-minute theatrical production "Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee" at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu, before a distinguished gathering of invited guests and theatre enthusiasts. The play, written and directed by Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, portrayed the life, ideas, struggles and commitment of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee towards national unity, integrity and public service, using theatre, dramatic situations, sound and lighting to recreate the political atmosphere of the 1940s. Priya Sethi, Vice President, BJP, Jammu & Kashmir and former Minister for Culture, Government of J&K, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The programme was also attended by Ayodhya Gupta, Prabhari North; Dr. Parnesh Mahajan, Chairman, NSM College; Sh. Keshav Gupta, Editor-in-Chief, North Truth; and Sh. Rajesh Gupta as Special Guests. The production received appreciation for its focused theatrical treatment and the performances of JR Sagar, Soham Kashyap, Bindia, Arun Sharma, Rishabh, Mannat Bahau, Ridhima Sharma, Nitesh Verma and Drawid Gupta, who brought energy and conviction to their respective roles. Set was designed by Shazhi khan ,lights were designed and executed by Aaditya Bharti, Make up by Dr. Kamal Sharma Costumes and properties by Krishan Bala and Anita Chandpuri while Sweety Sharma,Lalita Sharma ,Aman verma managed the staged affairs while Shaleen Mahajan assisted the production . Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sudhir Mahajan said that the production was an attempt to present an important chapter of India's history through the language of theatre and to encourage audiences, particularly young people, to reflect upon national unity, integrity and the responsibilities of citizenship. Anita Chandpuri, General Secretary, Samooh Theatre, expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Special Guests and the invited audience for their presence and encouragement. She said that Samooh Theatre would continue its efforts to promote meaningful theatre and create productions dealing with subjects of historical, social and cultural significance. |
