| Manhas releases new book on Lal Ded | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 14: The J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Language in collaboration with National Book Trust of India, New Delhi organized a day long literary festival at K.L. Saigal hall here today. Prof. Rattan Lal Shant, Hindi and Kashmiri writer was the chief guest on the occasion. While addressing Prof Shant said that the book released Lal Ded a hindi translation done by Ved Rahi, of his own original Dogri Novel is a classic work in which literary aspect of the great poetess of the era, Lal Ded, her spiritual and intellectual thoughts in her poetry and particularly her struggle throughout the life to achieve the highest spiritual place have been very ably reflected. Describing her one of the greatest poets in the world Shant said that ‘we couldn’t succeed to project and feel the real message of the poetry and the life Lal Deed soul. While appreciating the novel written in Hindi by Rahi he said that through this novel Ved Rahi successfully related Kashmiri, Hindi and Dogri lingua-cultures and also helped to project the great poetess not only in the state but also at the national and international platform. Earlier, while speaking on the occasion, Zafer Iqbal Manhas, secretary Academy said that Lal Deed is the real symbol of kashmiriat in reality which depicts Kashmiri culture, folk, tradition and rituals. He said that in the present times the Kashmiriat has become a slogan and a source from where we can achieve our materialistic targets using the slogan of so called kashmiriat. He said Rahi has successfully carried out this message through this novel. He informed the distinguished guests, writers present in the function that Academy will do all possible efforts to get this novel translated into Kashmiri, Urdu and other regional languages of the state. Dr. Agnishekhar, prominent Hindi and Kashmiri poet, writer, critic and intellectual, Mohan Singh, noted Dogri poet, writer, artist, Dr. Adarsh, Hindi poet scholar and critic, Dr. Neelam Saraf, HOD, Hindi department, University of Jammu, Nirmal Vikram, renowned Dogri short story writer and critic presented their research papers on the books released in this function. Lalit Kishore Mandor, liaison officer of National Book Trust of India in his address appealed about the regular activities of the Trust and also informed that such more functions will also be organized in future too. On the conclusion a multilingual mushiara was organized in which the poets from Hindi, Dogri, Punjabi, Urdu and Kashmiri participated included Dr. Kirat Singh Inqalabi, Kulwant Singh, Mohan Singh Shant, Maharaj Krishan Santoshi, Prof. Ashok Kumar Gupta, Sheikh Mohammad Kalyan, Gianishwar, Mohan Singh, Uttam Singh, Arsh, Dr. Liaqat Jafri and Dr. Drakshan Andrabi.
