Samba police foiled a bovine smuggling attempt

Samba, Aug 17: Intensifying its sustained campaign against bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba Police has successfully foiled a bovine smuggling attempt within the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal by arresting a bovine smuggler and rescuing fourteen (14) bovines. The vehicle used in the illegal transportation of bovines was also seized. A police team of PS Ghagwal while routine vehicle checking at naka NHW Tapyal, intercepted a Container truck bearing registration number HP38H-7827 which was coming from Kathua side. During search and checking, fourteen bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.
The driver of the vehicle identified as Manzoor Ahmad S/o Fateh Mohd R/o Khanpur Nagrota district Jammu was apprehended on the spot and taken into custody. All the bovines have been rescued and the vehicle has also been seized.
A case FIR No. 82/2026 u/s 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started. Samba Police reiterated its firm commitment to taking strict legal action against individuals involved in bovine smuggling and other organized illegal activities.
