Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 21: Acting swiftly on reliable information, Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu rescued 66 bovine animals being transported in a cruel and inhumane manner from Jakhodi Khad near Batra Hospital, Jammu. On receipt of the information, a police team of PS Bagh-e-Bahu immediately proceeded to the indicated area and intercepted the transportation. The bovine animals were found being taken on foot towards Kashmir without adequate arrangements for their food and water, allegedly for slaughter purposes. All 66 bovine animals were safely rescued and subsequently shifted to JMC Gaushala, Panjgrain, Nagrota, for their safety, care and proper upkeep. In this connection, FIR No. 57/2026 under Sections 223/299 BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act has been registered at PS Bagh-e-Bahu. Further investigation is underway. Jammu Police reiterates its commitment to preventing cruelty to animals and taking strict legal action against persons involved in illegal transportation and slaughter of bovines. |
