| Sessions Court sets-aside conviction of 6 accused | | | Early Times Report Ramban, Jun 15: Principal Sessions Judge Ramban Bala Joyti today set aside conviction and sentence awarded by the Judicial Magistrate Gool convicting Farooq Ahmed and five other accused for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl and forcing her to marry with accused Farooq Ahmed. In an appeal filed against the conviction by the accuse, the Principal Sessions Judge observed that looking at the statement of the prosecutrix the accused persons had asked her to come and she left the house at their call. This indicates that she voluntarily left the house without being any act of coercion, force are other kind of influence by the accused. The matter does not end here. It has come in the prosecution evidence that the girl was taken by her father who kept her at the house of parental Aunt Hazra, who happened to be the wife of accused Abdul Hamid and mother of accused Farooq Ahmed. This shows that the prosecutrix was never kidnapped or abducted by the appellants, as such the conviction of all the six accused is set-aside.
