| Dy CM wants de-mined land vacated for farmers | | | Early Times Report Srinagar June 15: Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand today asked for immediate restoration of de- mined land along the Line of Control (LoC) to the cultivators. He directed the authorities to complete the paper work within a week’s time. Chairing a meeting of Army and Civil administration at village Gigrial on the LoC, Tara Chand called for close coordination between the two so that the possession of land is handed over to the farmers at the earliest. The Deputy Chief Minister asked the concerned army authorities to de-mine the remaining land used by the security forces and make it available for agricultural use. He asked the concerned officers to ease the free movement of cultivators, so as to enable them for preparing the land for crop usage. He also called for close liaison between Army and the farming community. He also toured the Zero line area on foot for an on-the stop assessment of the ground situation and stressed upon the farming community to immediately start cultivating the de-mined land handed over to them. He instructed the District Development Commissioner, Jammu for speedy disposal of compensation cases of the border migrants in a transparent manner so as to save them from any inconvenience.
