| sample survey workshop gets underway in Srinagar | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Jun 15: A three day regional training NSS workshop dedicated to “Employment and Un-employment along with survey on consumer Expenditure” was held here today. The training workshop, a joint venture of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, J&K and National Sample Survey Organization, (FOD), is being organized on annual basis before start of the new NSS round. This survey will be launched in the state from July 1, 2009 and the field operations will be completed by June 30, 2010. Deputy Director General NSSO (FOD), Deepak Rastogi presented welcome address to the dignitaries from NSSO and officers and officials of DES. In his introductory speech, Director General, Economics and Statistics GA. Qureshi, impressed upon the participants for taking this training workshop seriously, as the success of this round of sample survey depends on the authenticity and accuracy of field data to be collected by the field functionaries. Qureshi, also appealed to the general public to cooperate with the field functionaries and provide them accurate and reliable data on the subject. He further stated that the information expected to be generated from the field operation would be of paramount importance for the state and the country as a whole for framing polices and plans for tackling the problem of unemployment and eradication of poverty in the years to come. Additional Director General, NSSO (FOD) Dr. A. K. Yogi delivered the inaugural address.
