Azad chairs high level meeting, reviews Ramzan arrangements
Advises administration to keep all essential commodities available in adequate quantity with buffer stocks

SRINAGAR, September 25 – Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad immediately after concluding his visit from USA, Belgium and Nanital today on the first day of holy month of Ramdan reached Srinagar and from airport straightly proceeded to Secretariat and convened a high level meeting for taking necessary measures in order to provide better facilities to the people during the holy month of Ramdan.

Manjeet Singh, Minister of State for Power Peer Mohammad Hussain, Minister of State for PHE Dr. Romesh Chander Sharma, Chief Secretary Mr. C. Phunsog, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Anil Goswami, Financial Commissioner, Home, Mr. B. R. Kundal, Director general of Police Mr. Gopal Sharma, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Mr. Basharat Ahmad, Commissioner Secretaries CA&PD, PHE, Power, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Mr. S. M. Sahai, Development Commissioner, PDD Mr. Showkat Rashid, Chief Engineer M&RE Mr. Nissar Hussain, Chief Engineer System Operations Mr. Abdul Rashid Guru, Chief Engineer PHE Mr. Abdur Rashid Beigh and heads of various departments were among others who attended the meeting.
While reviewing the supply position of essential commodities the meeting was informed that sufficient stocks of essential commodities like rice, atta, suger, K.oil and LPG are available in the food godowns of the state.
It was decided in the meeting that instead of 3-litres K.oil rice, atta, suger, K.oil oil, per month 7 liters of K.Oil would be provided to every family from the month of October 2006.
The meeting was informed that as compared last years 9 hours daily power curtailment the same shall be reduced during this month of Ramdan only for 7 hours.
The meeting also reviewed the supply position of potable water facility and it was informed that there is not any scarcity of drinking water in any area of the state and keeping in view the holy month of Ramdan 26 additional water tankers kept in service in city area besides if needed the tanker services in towns and other areas would be also arranged.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister advised the authorities to ensure all the facilities which includes better power supply, buffer quantity of essential commodities, cleanliness and drinking water facility to the people during the holy month of Ramdan. He advised the Power Development Department that they should adhere to the schedule strictly and establish complaint calls in each area so that unscheduled power cut is avoided at any cost.
The Chief Minister advised CAPD authorities to ensure the availability of LPG, Sugar, K. Oil, Rice and Atta in every nook and corner of the state so that the people should not suffer during this holy month. He also instructed that the enforcement team of CAPD department be further activated in every block and towns to control the rates.
Responding to the reports regarding the scarcity of water in some areas which was totally baseless as reported by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir and PHE authorities, the Chief Minister advised the authorities that keeping in view the sanctity of the month the administration should fully geared up and on toes to redress all kinds of grievances of the people. He also advised all the deputy Commissioners to establish control rooms in the district headquarters and disseminate information to all concerned accordingly on daily basis with regard to supply of power, water and other essential commodities.
