CHOWKI CHOURA, Aug 24: A large-scale plan-tation drive was organised today at Higher Secondary School Chowki Choura under the "Green J&K Drive" initiative of the Jammu For-est Division, Kali Dhar Forest Range, in line with the "Har Gaon Hariyali, Har Ghar Hariyali" and "One Beat Guard, One Village" programmes of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
The event was graced by SDM Ankush Hans as the chief guest, along with Tehsildar Parmod Kumar and ZEO Kamal Kishore. The programme was conducted under the supervision of I/C Principal Sanjay Kumar, HSS Chowki Choura.
A hundred saplings, provided by the Forest De-partment, were planted on the school premises. Teaching and non-teaching staff, students, forest guards and local parents ac-tively participated in the drive, pledging to wa-ter, protect and nurture the saplings.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries stressed the importance of tree plantation in combating climate change and urged students and villagers to adopt at least one sapling each and ensure its care. The event concluded with a group photograph and a collective pledge towards a greener Jammu and Kashmir. |
