| Celebration of National Sports Day at GDC Purmandal | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 29: Government Degree College (GDC) Purmandal celebrated National Sports Day on 29th August, 2026 with great fervour to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.
The programme was organized by the Sports Committee of the college under the guidance of worthy Principal Prof. (Dr.) Indu Khajuria.
On this occasion, various sports competitions including Kho-Kho, Tug of War and Carrom were organized to foster physical fitness, sportsmanship and active participation among students. Students participated with immense zeal and vigour.
The competitions were efficiently coordinated by the Physical Director of the College, who ensured smooth conduct and fair play throughout the events.
In his welcome address, the Convener, Sports Committee highlighted the significance of National Sports Day in inculcating a healthy and active lifestyle.
In her presidential address, Prof. (Dr.) Indu Khajuria congratulated all the winners, commended the efforts of the Sports Committee and Physical Director for promoting a vibrant sports culture and emphasized the pivotal role of sports in holistic development and well-being. |
