| Doda police lodged habitual drug offender in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal under PIT NDPS Act | | | Early Times Report DODA, Aug 31: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, District Police Doda has taken preventive action against a habitual drug offender under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, 1988, and lodged him in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu. The detenue has been identified as Imtiaz Ahmed, S/o Abdul Hameed, R/o Anwarabad, Doda. He has previously been involved in two NDPS cases registered at Police Station Doda-FIR No. 263/2022 and FIR No. 237/2025, both under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act. Despite having been granted bail in these cases, preventive detention proceedings were initiated against him in accordance with law to prevent his involvement in activities prejudicial to the efforts against illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. After receipt of the detention order from the competent authority and completion of the requisite legal formalities, a police team of Police Station Doda executed the detention order and lodged the detenue in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, under the provisions of the PIT-NDPS Act. Doda Police is pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse across the district. Besides stringent legal action against drug peddlers and their networks, focused efforts are being made to disrupt drug supply chains, strengthen financial investigations in NDPS cases, initiate preventive action against habitual offenders, and conduct regular awareness programmes, particularly among youth and students. District Police Doda reiterates its unwavering commitment to combating the drug menace and protecting the youth from the devastating consequences of narcotics and substance abuse. The general public is appealed to cooperate with the Doda Police and share information regarding drug trafficking, drug peddling, or other narcotics-related activities with the nearest Police Station or through the official communication channels of District Police Doda. The identity of informants shall be kept strictly confidential. |
