| KD to Govt, ‘cater genuine needs of tourist’ | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 16: To take first hand information about the facilities being provided to the yatries and tourist proceeding to holy caves of Shri Amarnathji coming from various part of the country was reviewed by the city president of ‘Kranti Dal’ (KD) Himanshu Bali after visiting. Various places in the connection here today. As per press release, Bali said due to recession tourist and pilgrims are not coming in large number, which badly effects business community of Jammu, which is dependent on tourism. He said beside this tourist entering the state are harassed by traffic department and other concern agencies un-necessarily. At Raghunath temple pujaries harass them as they charge money for darshan etc. He appealed to the chief minister Omar Abdullah to look into the matter by appointing an investigative agency and save tourism industry on which lakhs of people of the state are dependable. Bali further said, that from Lakhanpur to Jammu, Katra and Srinagar etc., tourists have to pay hefty amount as entry taxes, challans to traffic police etc., which is not a healthy practice. He said there is an increase in the no. of tourist as well as pilgrims and will continues in future, but the state govt. has to take some measures to cater to the genuine needs of the tourists, so that they will feel secure and the hospitality provided to them will make the tourists to come back to the state again, which will help to raise the economy of the State as Tourism is a major industry in J&K State.
