REASI, Sept 3: Continuing its drive against drug trafficking, Reasi Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered 6.9 grams of heroin during routine naka checking in Katra. On 02.09.2026 at about 2350 hrs, a patrolling/naka party of Police Station Katra, during routine checking at Masjid Chowk, near New Bus Stand, Katra, apprehended Altaf Hussain S/o Rustam Ali R/o Banganga, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, who was coming from Jammu towards Katra. During his personal search, 6.9 grams of heroin along with a poly pouch was recovered from the left pocket of his jeans pant. The accused failed to give any satisfactory explanation regarding possession of the contraband. Accordingly, FIR No. 280/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Katra and the accused was arrested.
Further investigation is in progress, with backward and forward linkages being investigated to identify the source of the contraband and its intended recipients.
Reasi Police reiterates its commitment to combating drug trafficking and urges the public to report any information regarding the illegal sale or supply of drugs to the nearest police station.
