Haji Nissar stresses on ensuring welfare of under-privileged

Srinagar, September 25 (INFO) – Minister for Social Welfare Haji Nissar Ali chaired a meeting of Social welfare department convened to formulate 11th 5-year plan, 2007-2011 here today.
The Minister took stock of achievements made by the department in various spheres and sought detail regarding proper implementation of various central and state sponsored schemes. He was briefed about various categories of beneficiaries who avail these schemes.
The Director Social Welfare department Mrs. Dilshada earlier presented a comprehensive report of the activities of the department and reflected its role in ensuring welfare of the society to the maximum. She introduced to the meeting a brief history of the department, its organizational setup, various projects under taken and gave information of the schemes falling under Integrated Social Security and National Social Assistance Programme like NOAPS, NFBS, NMBS.
Haji Nissar on the occasion stressed upon the officers to work with zeal and dedication so that the government’s resolution of ensuring maximum welfare to the weaker sections and poor get realized. He asked them to translate the real spirit of various schemes intended to extend financial and other social benefits to needy.
The meeting was told that under Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) in Kashmir division the total number of old age women’s in distress is 70202 and the number of physically challenged persons is 27997 and for which the funds released in 2176.38 lakh and the amount of funds utilized in 2172.80 lakh. All the funds allotted for total number of NSAP beneficiaries is 1273.78 lakh out of which the amount of funds utilized is 1154.50 lakh like wise the amount utilized for providing scholarship to 1301 children whose parents are engaged in unclean occupation is 13.31 lakh.
