| Trade resumes on Uri route | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 16: After remaining suspended last week due to strike and subsequent uncertainty over Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs), the trade along the Line of Control through Uri crossing point in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district resumed on Monday. While 8 trucks laden with varied items from Valley crossed Kaman post on the LoC, as many as 25 trucks reached Salamabad trade facilitation centre here from Pakistan administered Kashmir. Reports reaching Press Bureau of India said that the eight truck loads which went to Pak carried coconut 33 quintal, Rajma 9.4 quintal, union 55 quintal, pomegranate 5 quintal, Reddish 39.62 quintal, pine apple 7 quintal, walnut kernels 3.75 quintal, cherry 80 boxes, shawls 1544 pieces, embroidered crewel one bag, 230 pieces of paper-Machie and Saffron 30gms. Similarly, 25 trucks reached valley from PaK and 90 percent of them carried Moong (Dal) while others carried besides other items Peshawari Chappals. Sources said that the officials of commercial department did not allow carpets rolls and send it back to Pak. Pertinently, on past several occasions, the official allowed the carpets from Pak. Last week there was no trade as officials due to confusion over the Sops over ‘out of state products’ and eight day strike in valley over Shopian incident as traders were unable to keep their truck loads ready. It is in place to mention here that government has ordered an enquiry to be headed by divisional commissioner Kashmir, Masud Samoon into the alleged violation of SOPs, regulating the cross-LoC trade between Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan administered Kashmir at Salamabad.
