ASP inaugurates 38th District Volleyball Championship at Ramban

RAMBAN, Sept 18: The two-day 38th Ramban District Volleyball Championship for boys, organised by the Volleyball Association of J&K under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council, in collaboration with the J&K Excise Department, was inaugurated on Friday at the District Police Lines, Ramban.
Additional SP (ASP) Ramban Majeeb-ur-Rehman inaugurated the championship as the Chief Guest, while DSP Kuldeep Sharma was the Guest of Honour.
The championship aims to mobilise youth against drug addiction and promote sports, physical fitness and a drug-free Jammu & Kashmir. Messages related to cleanliness, My Youth My Pride, Fit India and other social initiatives were also highlighted during the event.
Addressing the players and participants, the chief guest called upon the youth to become ambassadors in their respective areas and actively contribute towards combating the growing menace of drug abuse. He stressed that the participation of young people in sports can play an important role in promoting a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.
He further stated that government agencies, including the Police Department, Excise Department and Sports Department, along with other stakeholders, are making concerted efforts to address social evils and create a healthier society. He also emphasised the important role of youth in nation-building and social transformation.
The chief guest was presented with a memento on the occasion. DSP Kuldeep Sharma was also honoured.
A total of 16 teams from different parts of Ramban district, including far-flung areas, are participating in the championship. The Excise Department extended full cooperation by providing refreshments, sports kits and trophies for the participants and dignitaries.
Today's Results: Royal Spikers Dharamkund defeated Chenab Valley Sports Club 2-0 (25-11, 25-19); Nivia Sports Club Neel defeated Ustaad Army Gool 2-0 (25-16, 26-23); Monister Spikes Khari defeated Neel Warriors 2-0 (26-24, 28-26); Spiker Punch Neel defeated Brother Club Chanderkot 2-0 (25-9, 25-10); Emerging Star Chamalwas defeated YYS Club Gurwati 2-0 (25-16, 25-20); Tiger Hill Neel defeated Titans Spiker Tulhal 2-0 (25-16, 25-21); Eagal Volleyball Club Noora defeated Emerging Star Chamalwas 2-1 (25-23, 15-25, 15-7); Monister Spiker Khari defeated Tiger Hill Parminder 2-0 (25-14, 25-19); Spiker Punch Chamalwas defeated Royal Spiker Dharamkund 2-0 (25-21, 25-18); Eagal Volleyball Club Noora Pogal defeated Prince Club Chareel 2-0 (25-22, 25-23); and Tiger Hill Parminder Neel defeated Monister Spiker Khari 2-1 (23-25, 25-12, 18-16).
