REASI, Sept 18: Continuing its efforts to curb the illegal possession and misuse of Pregabalin capsules, Reasi Police has registered two separate cases and apprehended three persons in the Katra area. During the intervening night of 16/17 September 2026, a Police Party of Police Station Katra apprehended Suresh Kumar S/o Penu, R/o Devigarh, Tehsil Bhomag, District Reasi, presently at Katra, who was proceeding from Asia Chowk towards Balni, Katra. During his search, 17 strips containing 10 Pregabalin capsules each were recovered from his possession. On questioning, he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding possession of the capsules. Accordingly, FIR No. 296/2026 under Section 223 BNS has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation has been initiated. In another action, on 16 September 2026 at about 10:00 PM, a Police Party of Police Station Katra laid a naka at Nomain Check Post. During checking, an electric auto bearing registration number JK20D-2181, carrying two persons, was intercepted and subjected to checking. During personal search, 19 strips containing 10 capsules each, totaling 190 Pregabalin capsules of 300 mg , were recovered. The driver, identified as Mohd. Iqbal @ Gaafu, R/o Lattori, Katra, was found in possession of 10 strips (100 capsules), while the second occupant, Mohd. Rafiq S/o Sakhi Mohd., R/o Bhaga, Serla, Reasi, was found in possession of 9 strips (90 capsules). The recovery was found to be in violation of the order/notification issued by the District Magistrate, Reasi, restricting/prohibiting possession of Pregabalin capsules. Accordingly, FIR No. 295/2026 under Section 223 BNS has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation has been initiated. Reasi Police reiterates its commitment to taking strict action against the illegal possession and misuse of Pregabalin capsules and other substances, in accordance with law. |
