Early Times Report MANDI GOBINDGARH, Sept 19: Desh Bhagat University (DBU) proudly hosted the DBU Core Research Excellence Award - 2026, celebrating outstanding achievements in research, innovation, patents, scientific advancement, and academic excellence. The prestigious ceremony brought together eminent academicians, researchers, scientists, innovators, and distinguished guests from academia and industry to recognise individuals whose contributions are advancing knowledge and creating meaningful impact. The event was graced by Anil Kumar Verma, Field General Manager, Bank of India, as the Chief Guest, along with distinguished Guests of Honour and Special Guests representing academia and industry. The presence of Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor, DBU; Prof. (Dr.) Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor; Prof. (Er.) Sandeep Singh, President; Prof. (Dr.) Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellor; and Prof. (Dr.) Parvinder Singh, Vice President, DBU, added significance to the celebration and underscored the University's continued commitment to fostering a strong culture of research and innovation. The awards recognised outstanding achievements and excellence across a range of prestigious categories, including the Research Excellence Award, Distinguished Researcher Award, Young Scientist Award, Patent & IPR Excellence Award, Young Researcher Award, Emerging Innovator Award, and Ph.D. Scholar Award. These awards celebrate significant contributions to research, innovation, intellectual property, and academic excellence, honouring individuals at various stages of their research careers. A major highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Research upon Prof. Surinder Kumar Mehta, Panjab University, Chandigarh and former Vice Chancellor of University of Ladakh and Kargil in recognition of his contributions to the research ecosystem. The Outstanding International Scientist Award was also presented to Mahamahopaddhyay Prof. (Dr.) Abhijit Joshi, Former Vice Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, honouring his distinguished contribution to science, scholarship, and international academic engagement.
